6 TIPS TO SWITCH OFF AT CHRISTMAS

Updated: Dec 17, 2022

Hi Friend,

So here we are getting to the nitty gritty end of the year.

You may be prepping to spend time with family, friends, or simply by yourself.

You are allowed to rest and recharge. Life is about experiences and this is the time of year when you could be winding down and getting an adventure of some sort.

This adventure can be welcomed or can bring on bouts of anxious thoughts about the year ahead. Here are some useful tips to remain relatively calm or at least have a sense of control over the year's transition.

  1. WRITE IT DOWN

Some people like to-do lists, checklists, or audio lists. However your brain deals with information, brain dump all of the tasks that are taking up space in your mind. Then prioritize and make a plan of attack. You'll feel a lot better having it all laid out in front of you.

Have the tasks to get done BEFORE you take a break, and AFTER you return.

2. LOG OUT

Tell people about your away dates!

Even if it is a staycation and you are at home catching up on Netflix or a book its YOUR recharge time. It's not your fault if someone else wasn't organised.

Log Out or Silence emails and other work-related software.

3. GAMIFY THE DAY

That's right bust out some old skool boardgames, grab the Wii Sing or Dance, or set up the cards of humanity. Get some good old human interaction, laughter, and banter into the day.

4. WATCH OR READ AN OLD FAVOURITE

Bust out a new or an old movie either with someone of choice or simply your dog and a gin. Unwind and relax, and maybe have a laugh or a thrill of a jump scare ( I don't know what your go-to movie genre is). Have 90-120min of simply entering another world through the screen. Alternatively, maybe the couch, a blanket, and a good book are more of your vibe.

5. GET OUTSIDE

Fresh air and connecting with nature is such a great way to get revitalized. Go for a simple walk or plan something fun with a friend. Fresh air, laughter, and creating memories are brilliant ways to reconnect mind, body, and soul. Move however it makes your heart dance!

6. YOU ARE SPECIAL TOO

Remember to treat yourself too. We can get caught up in servicing others over Christmas, remember no one is as important as you. Treat yourself with whatever sparks a little joy in you too!

Recharge, however, your Lil heart desires, you deserve it!

Until next week, Stay Sassy

Nikki
